Motor Neuron Disease

In 2014, it would have been impossible to avoid seeing people pouring buckets of ice-cold water over themselves. The “Ice Bucket Challenge” campaign raise hundreds of millions of dollars for a disease that most of us knew little about—motor neurone disease. It’s a disease in which nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord break down, and the individual struggles to walk and speak. Even breathing becomes a challenge. We find out more about motor neuron disease from Prof. Dr Goh Khean Jin, consultant neurologist and Soo Cheong Futt, the Vice Chairman of MND Malaysia.

Hitachi eBworx Raises RM100,000 for Employee Diagnosed with ALS

When Mr Song, a Project Director, was diagnosed with MND, his company, Hitachi eBworx Sdn Bhd, first received the news from University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC). Many colleagues were shocked and saddened. Nevertheless, Hitachi eBworx’s management office initiated a donation drive almost immediately. Colleagues, ex-colleagues, and even clients of Hitachi eBworx Malaysia, Singapore, China, Indonesia and Thailand donated generously.
