MND Malaysia Family Gathering

25 February 2024 was no ordinary Sunday. It was a day filled with warmth and happiness in this gathering of the MND community of family members meeting & sharing their stories and challenges along this journey together. Smiling faces, grins, hug’s, and handshakes greetings was in the air.

This was MND Malaysia annual gathering at Bukit Jalil Golf & Resort Club, Kuala Lumpur. A gathering to foster closer bonding and fellowship within the MND community. To share with everyone that they are not alone in this journey after being diagnosed with MND.

Upon arrival, guests were ushered to the photo booth to have their family photos taken. To break the ice, our volunteers introduced the guests to each other, and it can be seen they blended well together sharing their experiences and challenges.

The sharing and chatting continued into the ballroom where our MC for the event, Nadia kickstarted the event with an interactive game with the guests. The audience was very supportive in full participation to the MC.

After the welcoming speech by Benny Ng, Chairman MND Malaysia, the acknowledgement of the sponsor for the event, MediSavers with the presentation of the mock cheque, represented by Ms Ho, GM and Francoise, Person Experience Manager. For the goodies bag, from Alpro Pharmacy was represented by Kelly Gan & Eugene Siow.

Followed by a Patient’s sharing session by Halim, presented by his daughter, Liez. The sharing was so touching that we can see many teary eyes in the audience. Halim himself cried and was comforted by his daughters. A video presentation by Kairul Nizam was aired as he was not able to attend this session.

To liven up the session a dance performance by Chan Ler Ee, a MND volunteer, dancing to the K-pop song and Michael Jackson ‘Smooth Criminal’

During lunch, the sharing, interaction and chatting continued with many photos taken to remember this happy occasion. The event ended on a high note that everyone is looking forward to the next gathering.

This event was a success thanks to the support of all the volunteers with special thanks to the Organising Chairperson, Hoay Hoay, supported by Sharon Low. Our camera crew of Chia & Alex, videographer Kenneth Ho. And welcoming our new volunteer, Jojo and to the rest of our volunteers team, Kudos for a job well done.
